The award highlights the power and potential of partnerships between communities and academic institutions as a strategy for social justice and health equity. It honors community-campus partnerships that are striving to achieve the systems and policy changes needed to overcome the root causes of health, social, environmental and economic inequalities.

First place winner, receiving $7,500:
Rec and Read Mentorship Program, University of Manitoba (Canada)

Second place winner, receiving $5,000:
Legal Services Clinic (LSC), National Law School of India University (India)

Third place winner, receiving $2,500:
Wits Initiative for Rural Health Education (WIRHE), University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) (South Africa)

In addition, two programs were awarded Honorable Mentions:

  • Pathways to Higher Education, Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines)
  • Centro de Desarrollo Comunal (CEDEOM), Universidad Señor de Sipán (Peru)

Congratulations to Patricia Ballamingie, Co-lead of the CES Hub with Todd Barr of the Trent Centre for Community Based Education, receivined , which will assist her in moving forward the work of the current and future community environmental sustainability projects.

Current projects include Regional Approaches to Environmental and Social Innovation, Community University Partnerships in Strategic Planning, and Potential for ”Deep Green” Development of the Oblate Lands in Old Ottawa East.
