The Talloires Network Announces Call for Nominations from Exceptional University Community Engagement Programs

The Talloires聽Network has announced a call for nominations for the sixth annual MacJannet聽Prize. The Prize recognizes exceptional civic engagement initiatives based at Talloires Network member universities around the world and contributes financially to their ongoing public service efforts.

The Talloires聽Network, comprising over 300 universities from 71 countries around the world, was established聽in 2005 to focus on the obligation institutions of higher education have to actively engage with their communities. The Talloires Declaration, signed by the leaders of all member institutions, states that the university 鈥渟hould use the processes of education and research to respond to, serve and strengthen its communities for local and global citizenship.鈥

The MacJannet聽Prize was instituted聽to further the Talloires聽Network鈥檚 mission of strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education. The first five years of the MacJannet聽Prize were a tremendous success. With about 70 nominations from dozens of universities around the world each year, the MacJannet Prize Selection Committee has been able to select a diverse group of innovative and effective winning programs.

Three prizes will be awarded in 2014: 1st Prize ($7,500), 2nd Prize ($5,000), and 3rd Prize ($2,500). Prize money will be used聽to further the goals and strengthen the impact of the awarded programs. Winning programs will be profiled聽on the Talloires聽Network website and highlighted in communications reaching thousands of higher education contacts worldwide. Winners will also have the opportunity to take part in a presentation ceremony at the 2014 Talloires Network Leaders Conference.

To be considered, programs must be nominated by 24 January 2014. Nominations will be accepted聽from students, faculty, staff, or administrators at member institutions. Only programs originating from member institutions of the Talloires聽Network are eligible for the Prize. Leaders of higher education institutions around the world that are not already Talloires聽Network members are invited聽and encouraged to join the Talloires Network.聽There is no fee for membership.
