OPPORTUNITY: A pay-what-you-can bus trip to so-called Toronto, leaving Montreal\/Ottawa on Sept. 17 and returning on Sept. 18<\/p>\n

\ufe0f FOR WHO? Grassy Narrows is an Indigenous community that has maintained the longest blockade in the history of so-called Canada, repelling logging companies for over 20 years! They are dealing with the devastating impacts of long-term mercury poisoning from a paper mill that continues to dump toxic waste into their river. The Ontario government is deeply complicit in this shocking environmental racism, having systematically denied the impacts of mercury poisoning on the community since the 1970s.<\/p>\n

\u231b WHY NOW? Grassy Narrows will be rallying in Toronto on Sept. 18 to demand that the Ford government FINALLY provide fair compensation to the community. The community has also taken Ontario to court over thousands of mining and logging claims the government has issued on their land without consultation or consent. That\u2019s why RIGHT NOW is a critical moment to show the Ontario and Canadian governments that Grassy has built broad support from communities across Ontario and Quebec!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
