Last fall, Climate Commons organized a teach-in event to hear from Decolonial Solidarity Ottawa-Gatineau. Decolonial Solidarity groups<\/a><\/strong> emerged in December 2021 following an online call to action from Indigenous land defenders who called for the support of the Wet\u2019suwet\u2019en hereditary chiefs who have been opposing construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline on their lands. One of the movement’s current efforts is the Adopt-a-Branch campaign which aims to pressure RBC to defund Coastal GasLink. By “adopting” a branch, Decolonial Solidarity groups regularly take up space and engage the public in the role that RBC is playing by funding the development of the Coastal GasLink Pipeline (CGL) on Wet’suwet’en land. Right now, we’re looking for folks who would be interested in joining the movement in support of the Wet\u2019suwet\u2019en land defenders by starting or joining a Decolonial Solidarity affinity group based at 杏吧原创 University. This group could join the nationwide action by adopting the Riverside RBC branch near campus.<\/p>\n

We’re looking for people who would be interested in leading and organizing a 杏吧原创-based group, as well as those who are just interested in taking part. We have resources available to support this work, including the affinity group handbook<\/a> <\/strong>as well as the knowledge and experience of those leading affinity groups located elsewhere in the region.<\/p>\n
