{"id":197,"date":"2016-03-16T19:48:53","date_gmt":"2016-03-16T23:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/climatecommonsblog.wordpress.com\/?p=183"},"modified":"2017-03-10T12:53:58","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T17:53:58","slug":"green-revolving-fund-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/climatecommons\/2016\/green-revolving-fund-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Revolving Fund Winners!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">The Green Revolving Fund committee would like to thank all members of the 杏吧原创 University community for their participation and interest in the Green Revolving Fund and for submitting their project ideas.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\" \/>This year, once again, we received a great response from the 杏吧原创 community. All project submissions were of a high caliber and demonstrated clear links to our sustainable programs and the aims of the fund.\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>After careful consideration the following projects were selected:\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><strong class=\"\">First place winner<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Tennis Bubble Insulation and Conservation Project \u2013 Yolanda Junco and John Wilson\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>This project aims to reduce utility and operational costs by 30 per cent (electricity, gas and maintenance), as well as change all the lighting to LED lights.\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><strong class=\"\">Second place<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Campus Kitchen Exhaust Retrofit \u2013 Chad McKenzie and Travis Morton\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>This project will reduce the loss of conditioned air from buildings, reduce fan electrical usage through scheduling and increase safety for occupants and operators (no need for manual switch off).\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><strong class=\"\">Third place<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Sustainable Vacuum Pumps for Science \u2013 Tina Preseau and Peter Mosher\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>The project will stop the wasting of over 1,400 cubic meters of water per year from laboratories operations. Water currently being used to create a vacuum, by a water aspirator, will be replaced by compressed air powered vacuum pumps.\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>For more information on this year\u2019s project submissions:\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/fmp\/energy-and-sustainability\/get-involved\/green-revolving-fund\/green-revolving-fund-projects-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">Green Fund Projects 2015<\/a><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>Congratulations to all and thank you to everyone who participated.
