The Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Culture is pleased to announce the upcoming lecture by Professor Claire Farago. Professor Farago is an Art Historian and Professor Emerita at University of Colorado Boulder specializing in Early Modern art, theory, and criticism, as well as museum and collecting practices. Her talk titled, \u201cDefining an Ecological Approach to Art History: On the History of Human Exceptionalism,\u201d examines and identifies 16th<\/span>\u00a0century articulations of humanness that drew upon Aristotelian cognitive distinctions between humans and animals.<\/p>\n

The lecture will be hosted as an online event and is scheduled for\u00a0Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 4:00 pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Following the lecture\u00a0on Thursday, February 10th, 2022<\/span>, we invite\u00a0graduate students<\/b>\u00a0to join Professor Farago in a closed discussion session\u00a0from 6:00-7:30 pm<\/span>. We encourage participants to come prepared with a question regarding the lecture, topic, or broader context.\u00a0Upon registration, students will receive a recent publication related to Professor Farago\u2019s lecture so as to better prepare students for, and to enrich, the discussion experience.<\/p>\n
