Research also aims to determine which public policies and interventions can ensure that the positive effects of growth on women\u2019s empowerment are enhanced and the negative effects minimized.<\/p>\n<p>Through this call a single consortium is expected to undertake six to eight (6-8) projects within a total budget of up to CA$2 million. There is scope for funding one to two\u00a0(1-2) individual research projects of under CA$300,000.<\/p>\n<p>Please note there will be an internal review process for this call. Interested participants <strong>must <\/strong>submit an <strong>internal Expression of Interest (EOI) <\/strong>form by January 9, 2015.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Incomplete and\/or late submissions will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> be eligible.<\/li>\n<li>UN, donor, and multilateral organizations are\u00a0<strong>not <\/strong>eligible to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Applications from individual persons will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Research focused on a single country or economic context will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Applications led by principal investigators who are already leads on any other GrOW funded project will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Research organizations located or planning to conduct research in the following countries are\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> eligible for research grants as lead institutions: Cape Verde, Comoros, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, and Somalia.<\/li>\n<li>Research consortia comprised of\u00a0multiple institutional partners may apply; however, one partner must be designated as the lead institution. The lead institutions should submit the application to IDRC on behalf of the consortium.<\/li>\n<li>Research under this call is\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> restricted to low-income countries;\u00a0however, all research must be relevant and provide lessons for low-income countries.<\/li>\n<li>More than one application may be submitted per institution if projects are led by different principal investigators.<\/li>\n<li>Proposed projects are to be undertaken\/led by a research-oriented institution with legal corporate registration.<\/li>\n<li>Microeconomic studies on the barriers to women\u2019s economic empowerment will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Preference will be given to applications that:\n<ul>\n<li>are led by Southern institutions, or showcase collaboration with Southern partners;<\/li>\n<li>propose a set of projects covering a wide spectrum of the broader research questions described in the call document;<\/li>\n<li>analyze policies that can enhance positive impacts of growth patterns on women\u2019s economic empowerment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0Funding Available<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximum amount: CAD$2 million. It is envisaged that through this call a single consortium will undertake 6-8 projects within a total budget of up to CAD 2 million. In addition GrOW may consider funding1-2 individual research projects of under CAD 300,000 if the proposed research is in a priority area.<\/li>\n<li>Project duration: up to 24 months (including all research activities and final reporting).<\/li>\n<li>Indirect costs: allowable at 13% of the total eligible costs.
