Opportunity<\/h3>\n

Academics Without Borders (AWB) is a Canadian nonprofit organization. Its mission is to help
\nlow and middle-income countries improve their universities so that they can train their own
\nexperts and conduct research to assist in their countries\u2019 development. AWB\u2019s projects are
\ninvolved in the full range of university activities from expanding and improving existing
\ninstitutions and programs to helping create new ones. AWB fulfills its mission through volunteers
\nwho collaborate on projects that originate in and are owned by institutions in low and middle
\nincome countries (LMICs).<\/p>\n

AWB is looking to develop and support projects that enable volunteer experts to engage in
\ncapacity-building activities at institutions of higher education in low or middle-income countries
\n(LMIC\u2019s).<\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/h3>\n

Applications may be submitted by a faculty or staff member at one of the universities and
\ncolleges in the AWB Network in collaboration with a partner institution of higher
\neducation in a low or middle-income country.<\/p>\n

Funding Available<\/h3>\n

Expenses covered by AWB may include:
\n\u25cf Economy air travel, airport transfers, in-transit costs for hotels and meals
\n\u25cf Medical and travel insurance
\n\u25cf Visa fees
\n\u25cf Required vaccinations and medications
\n\u25cf A stipend for the volunteer\u2019s living expenses<\/p>\n

\u25cf Other costs may also be considered to facilitate volunteer involvement with the project,
\nespecially for projects implemented virtually.<\/p>\n
