{"id":25964,"date":"2024-10-09T12:46:49","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T16:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/?p=25964"},"modified":"2024-10-09T12:46:49","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T16:46:49","slug":"fulbright-canada-traditional-scholar-awards-2024-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/2024\/fulbright-canada-traditional-scholar-awards-2024-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Fulbright Canada Traditional Scholar Awards (2024\/25)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p>Fulbright Canada Traditional Scholar Awards are open to Canadian scholars in all fields and are designed to enable emerging and established scholars, post-doctoral researchers and experienced professionals to conduct research, teach, or undertake a combination of both activities for one semester or a full academic year at any university or research center of their choice in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specialization:<\/strong>\u00a0While the competition is open to all disciplines, Fulbright Canada is particularly interested in encouraging research on contemporary issues relevant to Canada, the United States and the relationship between the two countries. Applicants should also clearly document the need to be in residence in the United States to carry out the project.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<h5 class=\"text-uppercase margin-bottom-1\">Applicants must<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"fa-ul list-check-circle\">\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-check-circle\"><\/i>Be a Canadian citizen (Permanent residence is not sufficient).<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-check-circle\"><\/i>Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent professional\/terminal degree as appropriate.<br \/>\n<i class=\"fa fa-sticky-note\"><\/i>\u00a0Candidates outside academia (e.g., professionals, artists) with recognized professional standing and substantial professional accomplishments.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-check-circle\"><\/i>Be proficient in English.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-check-circle\"><\/i>Be in compliance with all J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) guidelines.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-check-circle\"><\/i>Be in compliance with all governmental regulations regarding visas, immigration, travel and residence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"text-uppercase margin-bottom-1\">Applicants must\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul class=\"fa-ul list-times-circle\">\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-times-circle\"><\/i>Be a dual U.S.-Canadian citizen.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-times-circle\"><\/i>Hold permanent residency status in the United States.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-times-circle\"><\/i>Reside in the United States.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa-li fa fa-times-circle\"><\/i>Have resided abroad for five or more consecutive years in the six year period immediately preceding the date of application.<br \/>\n<i class=\"fa fa-sticky-note\"><\/i>\u00a0A period of nine months or more during a calendar year is considered to constitute a full year abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Funding Available<\/h3>\n<p>The award is a fixed sum of US$25,000 for a full academic year (nine months) or $12,500 for one semester. A Health Benefit Plan is also provided. Enrichment opportunities in the United States are available through the Outreach Lecturing Funds. Faculty sabbatical, leave-of-absence, or retirement pay may be used concurrently with Fulbright support.<\/p>\n<h3>Deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>Applications must be submitted electronically on or before <strong>November 15, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Canadian applicants interested in applying for Fulbright Canada Traditional Scholar and Research Chair awards are asked to complete an online application.<\/p>\n<p>Please review the Canadian Scholar Application Instructions.
