{"id":1476,"date":"2012-06-01T15:08:52","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T19:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/?p=1476"},"modified":"2012-06-01T15:13:39","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T19:13:39","slug":"calls-for-proposals-for-industry-led-collaborative-rd-projects-between-canada-and-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/2012\/calls-for-proposals-for-industry-led-collaborative-rd-projects-between-canada-and-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Calls for proposals for industry-led collaborative R&#038;D projects between Canada and India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/istpcanada.ca\/home\/index.php\" target=\"_self\">International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada)<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gita.org.in\/\" target=\"_self\">Global Innovation &amp; Technology Alliance (GITA)<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dbtindia.nic.in\/\" target=\"_self\">Department of Biotechnology (DBT)<\/a>, Government of India, are hosting Calls for Proposals (CFP) for <strong>industry-led<\/strong> collaborative R&amp;D projects between Canada and India. <strong>Academic institutions, research hospitals, other R&amp;D institutes, are strongly encouraged to participate in the projects as co-investigators in Canada and Indi<\/strong>a.<\/p>\n<p>Objective:<\/p>\n<p>Companies are invited to propose collaborative R&amp;D projects that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enable the joint development of innovative products or processes<\/li>\n<li>Address a specific market need or challenge<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate high commercial potential<\/li>\n<li>Deliver benefit to all participants, and more broadly, to both countries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All Canada-India Calls invite bilateral R&amp;D projects that enable the joint development of innovative products or processes.\u00a0 All Calls require a company to serve as the Canadian project leader. Please find below an overview of eligible project leaders from India for each Call:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ISTPCanada-GITA CFP: A company is required to serve as the India project leader;<\/li>\n<li>ISTPCanada-DBT CFP: Companies; academic institutions; research hospitals; or other R&amp;D institutes are eligible to serve as the India project leader<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Funding: Canada<\/p>\n<p>On the Canadian side, funding recipients are eligible to receive up to a maximum of CDN $400,000<strong> <\/strong>or up to 50 percent of the eligible R&amp;D project value.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Funding awarded to private companies will be provided as a repayable contribution; these recipients are required to repay this contribution upon the commercial success of the project;<\/li>\n<li>As a funding partner, the\u00a0Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council\u00a0of Canada (NSERC) will award funding directly to collaborating Canadian university and college researchers as a non-repayable grant <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if<\/span> the project has an integrated CRD (Collaborative R&amp;D) or ARD (Applied R&amp;D) component. (Please note this is not mandatory.)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Funding: India<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On the Indian side, recipients are eligible to receive a maximum of CDN $400,000<\/strong> or up to 50 percent of the total Indian project costs from GITA or DBT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Priority Sectors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ISTPCanada and GITA<\/strong> will accept quality applications in the following sectors:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Sustainable environmental technologies and alternative energy;<\/li>\n<li>Information and communication technologies;<\/li>\n<li>Earth sciences and disaster management;<\/li>\n<li>Photonics; and<\/li>\n<li>Nanotechnology as an enabling technology for all above sectors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>ISTPCanada and DBT<\/strong> will accept quality applications in the following sectors:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Biotechnology;<\/li>\n<li>Health Research;<\/li>\n<li>Pharmaceuticals;<\/li>\n<li>Medical devices; and<\/li>\n<li>Nanotechnology as an enabling technology for all above sectors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More information on the call, including application forms, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.istpcanada.ca\/international_programs\/India\/IndiaActiveCFPs\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Register for a CFP Information Session:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in one of the CFP information sessions to be hosted via webcast by ISTPCanada.
