By supporting non-U.S. scholars through grants for teaching at institutions that might not have a strong international component, both the U.S. institution and the scholar grantee benefit.<\/p>\n<h3>Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p>S-I-R gives preference to the following.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Historically Black Colleges and Universities<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic-serving institutions<\/li>\n<li>Tribal Colleges and Universities<\/li>\n<li>Community Colleges<\/li>\n<li>Small Liberal Arts institutions<\/li>\n<li>Asian-American and Native American\/Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI)<\/li>\n<li>American Indian and Alaskan Native (AIANSI)<\/li>\n<li>Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are opportunities for other institutions to partner with preference organizations.
