  • Successful applicants will take part in events in their countries to win their place among 50 people from thirteen countries on the Future Leaders Connect programme.

The search is on for a new generation of leaders from around the world to take part in an intensive policy and leadership development course.

Participants last year presented their policy ideas at 10 Downing Street, had meetings at the BBC and the Houses of Parliament and discussed global challenges with former heads of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon and Kofi Annan.

During the programme they took part in seminars on policy-making and leadership skills, learning the techniques that effect real change.

Working Holiday Program in Austria for Canadians /ci/2018/working-holiday-program-austria-national-canada/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=working-holiday-program-austria-national-canada Wed, 21 Feb 2018 16:38:12 +0000 /ci/?p=14831 On October 30th 2017 Canada and Austria signed a bilateral agreement between our respective countries to include a working holiday program.

In the context of a cultural or tourist trip, young people may spontaneously decide that they wish to enter into a limited working relationship and also useeducation facilities in the respective country. Working Holiday Programmes (WHP)were set up to meet the relevant demands and enable young people between 18 and 30 to finance their (holiday) stay abroad – at least to some extent – themselves, gather practical vocational experience in another country and benefit from the local educational facilities. Employment and education are thus not the primary reason for travelling abroad but are as such an incidental benefit. Under these programmes, young people may gather professional experience abroad and acquire/improve foreign language skills, which are important aspects when starting a career. Another objective is promoting young people’s understanding of other countries and cultures.

Austria has so far concluded agreements in this regard with New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel, Canada, Chile and Australia.

Inquiries regarding an Austrian Working Holiday Visa should be addressed to the respective Austrian representation (see)

Austriais therefore be among the top EU countries with regard to the number of concluded and effective WHP agreements.
