maureen-lux-poster-2016-final-5-002-240x371AllÌýare invited to join ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University’s History Department for this year’s ShannonÌýLecture series, which will examine theÌýsocial, intellectual and culturalÌýhistoryÌýof health, sickness, diseaseÌýand medicine. The next Shannon lecture, co-sponsored by the Department of Health Sciences, will be given on November 18Ìýby Professor Maureen Lux who will talk aboutÌýthe history of theÌýtreatment of indigenous peoplesÌýin the Canadian healthcare system after 1945.ÌýMaureen Lux teaches history at Brock University. ÌýHer latest book,ÌýSeparate Beds: A History of Indian Hospitals in Canada, 1920s to 1980sÌýwas published earlier this year and she is currently collaborating on a book about reproductive politics in 1970s Canada.
