The Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet Chair \u201cDemocracy in the EU\u201d is pleased to host\u00a0a discussion, \u201cEuropean Defense Policy in an Age of Global Uncertainty: A Perspective from Germany<\/strong>,\u201d featuring Tobias Lindner, MdB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

European defense policy is confronted with new uncertainties. US President Trump has cast doubt on the future of NATO. At the same time, the impacts of \u201cBrexit\u201d on the EU\u2019s Common Security and Defence Policy remain unclear. Do we need a renaissance of the European Defense Community in order to secure a lasting peace?<\/p>\n

Tobias Lindner<\/a> has been a member of the German Bundestag for the Green Party (B\u00fcndnis 90\/Die Gr\u00fcnen) since 2011. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Karlsruhe\u00a0Institute of Technology. In the Bundestag, he is a member of the Defense Committee and serves as Deputy Chairman of the German-Canadian Parliamentary Friendship Group.<\/p>\n
