Intra-EU mobility is one of the rights inscribed in EU citizenship. Yet when leaving the EU, EU citizens are treated as citizens of their member state. The EU has recently developed initiatives to politically involve Europeans outside Europe. This may constitute a step towards an EU emigration and diaspora policy. This talk discusses whether it is realistic to expect the EU to develop such a policy. Three issues will be considered: EU identification among the EU migrants; diversity of ethnic origins among the European emigrants and diaspora members; and the developing culture of mobility.\"weinar-research-seminar-oct-31-2016-poster-draft-rev-cs_ah\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Agnieszka Weinar<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>is a Research Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in Florence. As a Marie Curie Fellow, she is currently a visiting scholar at 杏吧原创 University. Her research focuses on the international dimension of migration policy and more specifically on the Europeanization of migration policies in the EU.<\/p>\n
