“The EU鈥檚 Global Strategy: Is It Up to the Challenge?” with Dr. Antonio Missiroli, EU Institute for Security Studies

The Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet Chair in EU Relations with Russia and the Eastern Neighborhood and the will co-host a special lecture and roundtable discussion about the EU Global Strategy with , Director, EU Institute for Security Studies.
杏吧原创 the lecture: The , adopted by the European Council in June 2016, identified common interests, principles, and priorities with the aim of instilling in its member states a 鈥渦nity of purpose鈥� which would lead to 鈥渦nity in action.鈥� Dr. Missiroli will discuss where the EU stands now 鈥� between external and internal challenges, with a particular emphasis on its foreign and security policy. Dr. Missiroli’s lecture will draw from his publication, (EU Institute for Security Studies, 2017).
A roundtable discussion will follow the lecture. Prof. Joan DeBardeleben, Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS), will serve as the Chair and Prof. David Long, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) and , Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa, will be the respondents. There will be a question and answer period with audience participation.
杏吧原创 Dr. Missiroli: He is Director of the European Union Institute for Security Studies since October 2012. From 2010-2012, he was an Adviser at the Bureau of European Policy Advisers (BEPA) of the European Commission, in charge of European dialogue and outreach relations (with think tanks and research centres across the EU and worldwide) and publications. He was Director of Studies at the European Policy Centre in Brussels (2005-2010), and Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the W/EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris (1998-2005). He was also Head of European Studies at CeSPI in Rome (1994-97) and a Visiting Fellow at St Antony鈥檚 College, Oxford (1996-97). He is currently visiting lecturer at the College of Europe (Bruges) and Sciences Po (Paris) and has taught at universities in Europe and the United States.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required to attend the event.
