{"id":440,"date":"2021-04-26T11:03:13","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T15:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/?p=440"},"modified":"2021-04-27T09:24:06","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T13:24:06","slug":"student-update-courses-launch-in-brightspace-next-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/2021\/student-update-courses-launch-in-brightspace-next-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Update: Courses Launch in Brightspace Next Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">There\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">are<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">less than two weeks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0until all 杏吧原创 courses launch on\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.carleton.ca\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Brightspace<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. <\/span>As of May 6,\u00a02021,\u00a0Brightspace will officially replace\u00a0cuLearn as 杏吧原创\u2019s new Learning Management System (LMS).<\/p>\n<p>Brightspace\u202fwill provide several key advantages, including a faster, more\u202freliable system\u202fand 24\/7 technical support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Get to Know Brightspace\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Learning new technology is partly about exploring the tool for yourself.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">You can log in to the system<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">brightspace.carleton.ca<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0using your MC1 credentials<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">V<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">isit\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Teaching and Learning Services<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2019\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mediaspace.carleton.ca\/category\/杏吧原创+University+Galleries%3EBrightspace%3EBrightspace+for+Students\/204479823\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Brightspace\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">channel<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to watch a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Brightspace tour from a student perspective and a guide on how to complete a quiz in the new system. More videos are in production and will be available soon.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Accessing\u00a0cuLearn\u00a0Content\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"none\">Direct\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/students\/accessing-previous-course-content-in-culearn\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">access to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuLearn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0will be main<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ained<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">throughout 2021<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to allow time to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0review student content, such<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0assignments and grades<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">This data will not be imported to Brightspace<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">but will be archived in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuLearn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">As always, direct access to past courses in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuLearn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0is dependent on whether the instructor has kept the course visible. Course access, whether in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuLearn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0or Brightspace, is at the discretion of the instructor.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">This means that while you may be able to access and log<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in to the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuLearn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0system, previous courses may not be available if the instructor has turned the course off.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">If the course you are looking for is not available, please contact your instructor directly regarding access and content retrieval.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brightspace\u00a0Support\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">D2L provides\u202fon-demand\u202ftechnical support for Brightspace\u202f24 hours a day,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">seven<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0days a week, 365 days a year, so you\u2019ll be able to\u202fget answers to your questions anytime via email, chat and phone.\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Check out the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/students\/#portal1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Brightspace Student\u202fSupport\u202fwebsite<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, where you\u202fcan\u202ffind documentation\u202fon how to navigate and use the system.\u202f<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u00a0are\u00a0less than two weeks\u00a0until all 杏吧原创 courses launch on\u00a0Brightspace.
