  1. Viewing Quiz Question Feedback

Students can access quiz results and view quiz question feedback through the Quiz tool. The feedback students have access to will vary depending on how the instructor has chosen to customize the feedback display settings for the quiz. If your instructor has opted to provide written feedback, you can access the feedback by following the Viewing Quiz Question Feedback instructions below.  Once quiz scores have been published, you can also view your grade in the gradebook.

NOTE: Instructors have the ability to customize quiz feedback. If you have questions about what feedback will be available for your quiz, contact your instructor.

Viewing Quiz Question Feedback

  1. Log in to  with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Click on your course under My Courses or select your course from the Course Selector Grid
  3. Click Tools in the course navbar.         
  4. Select Quizzes from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click the arrow next to the name of the quiz.
  6. Select Submissions from the drop-down menu. You will be take to the Quiz Submissions page where you can view your score and feedback.
  7. Under Individual Attempts, click on your quiz Attempt.
  8. If your instructor has provided written feedback for a question, click View Feedback below a quiz question to expand the instructor’s feedback.
    NOTE: If you do not see the View Feedback option below a question, the instructor has not provided written feedback for that question.

Instructors may leave feedback on assignments through text comments, feedback files, or inline comments (comments made directly on a submitted file). This feedback can be accessed through the assignment tool page.

How to View Assignment Feedback

  1. Log in to with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Click on your course under My Courses or the course selector grid
  3. Click Tools in the course navbar.                     
  4. Click Assignments. This will open the assignment tool page.
  5. To view your original submission, click the link under the Completion Status column.
    NOTE: The Completion Status column opens a Submission History page. This page will display your original submission, a link to inline feedback (if applicable) and the submission date but will not display any overall feedback or your score. It is recommended to view feedback from the Evaluation Status column.
  6. To view any feedback, click the Read or Unread link under the Evaluation Status column.
    • Overall Feedback displays any written feedback.
    • Attached Files includes links to any uploaded feedback files. Click the file name or Download All Files to download them.
    • The summary table at the bottom of the page includes:
      • Your original submission under Submission(s). Click the file name to download the file.
      • Any inline feedback (comments made directly on the original file) under Inline Feedback. Click the file name to download the file.
  7. Click Done to return to the assignment tool page.

For example, they may create checklists to help students stay on track of weekly course requirements or to manage various steps needed to complete an assignment. Checklists are managed by students who manually mark items as completed as they progress through the tasks.

Using Checklists

  1. Log in to with your My杏吧原创One username and password.
  2. Click on your course under聽My Courses聽or the聽course selector grid聽
  3. Click Content in the Navbar.
  4. In the left sidebar under Table of Contents, click on the module that holds the checklist.
  5. Click the checklist name to open it.
  6. Review the various tasks on the list. Any applicable due dates are written to the right of the task name.
    TIP: Click on any included blue links to open connected webpages or content items.
  7. After completing a task, click the select box select box to mark it as complete.
  8. Review overall progress at the top of the checklist in the progress bar, which lists the percentage and number of items complete.
    NOTE: Checklists may be included as an optional study aid to organize coursework or may be required by your instructor. Review your course syllabus and other communications from your instructor to be sure you understand the purpose of each checklist.

The Quiz tool is a common form of assessment for quizzes, tests, or exams in an online course. Online quizzes can include many different question types, including multiple choice, short answer, and essay. Instructors may set up restriction settings including time and date restrictions, and limits on whether you can return to previous questions.

Taking a Quiz/Exam

Both Exams and Quizzes use the same tool in D2L Brightspace–the Quiz tool. Instructions are included below to step you through the process of taking a quiz/exam in Brightspace. See the video tutorial above for a visual of this process.

NOTE: Be sure to clarify the quiz settings before starting the quiz and to read the quiz details completely at the start of your quiz attempt. If you encounter difficulties during your quiz, take screen shots of any error messages. Include as much information as possible in the screen shot including the date and time, the browser tool bar, and the entire browser window. Email your instructor the with details of your quiz issue and include the screenshot so your instructor has as much information as possible.

  1. Log in to  with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Click on your course under My Courses or the course selector grid 
  3. Find your quiz in one of the following ways:
    • Find the quiz link in a module.
      1. Click Content in the navbar.
      2. Click the module in the left-side menu.
      3. Click the quiz.                                                                                                     
        NOTE: It is possible that your instructor has not added a link to the quiz to a module. If you cannot find the quiz, navigate to the quiz tool as described below.
    • Navigate to the quiz tool.
      1. Click Tools in the navbar.
      2. Click Quizzes.
      3. Click the quiz.                                                                                                       
  1. Review the Quiz Summary. This will tell you how much time you have to complete the quiz and how many attempts you have. Read the instructions carefully and take note of any restrictions. This page may also include an introduction or other details from your instructor.
  2. Click Start Quiz! when you are ready to begin.
  3. Complete the quiz questions. During the quiz you will see a quiz navigation section on the left hand side. If available, use this to jump to a specific question and see how many questions are remaining. The quiz navigation will track your progress by adding a checkmark underneath completed questions.
    NOTE: If available, use the Previous Page and Next Page buttons to navigate through the various pages of the quiz.
  4. To close the quiz during an attempt, click the X in the top right corner.
    WARNING: Closing a quiz mid-attempt will not stop the timer.
  5. Click Submit Quiz when you are finished. This will bring you to a quiz submission confirmation page.
    TIP: Any unanswered questions will appear on this page under a Warning heading. Click on the blue question title to complete the question.
  6. Click Submit Quiz.
    WARNING: When you press the Submit Quiz button you cannot return to the quiz. You will not be able to alter answers or add responses to skipped questions.
  7. Read the review page details. Depending on the quiz settings, this could include the questions, feedback, your score or the class average.
  8. Click Done.You have now completed the quiz.

Students can access course grades in D2L Brightspace through the Grades tool or through the Class Progress tool. Grade availability depends on how the instructor has set up grade items and assessment, as well as whether the instructors are ready to reveal grades to students. It is possible your instructor may not use the Brightspace Grades tool to display grades to students. If you are unsure how you will receive your course grades or if you have questions about the grade you received or your grade availability, contact your course instructor directly.

Access Your Course Grades

  1. Log into  with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Select your course under My Courses or the course selector grid 
  3. Select Progress in the course Navbar.

  4. In the drop-down menu, select Grades. You will see a table with an overview of your Grades. The specific information available will depend on how your instructor has set up their Grades. If a grade is not showing, the grade may not be available yet. You may see point values, assessment weight, comments, overall class performance statistics or overall class performance statistics.

    NOTES:
    • If your instructor used a rubric in their assessment, you will see blue Assessment Details button in the Comments and Assessments column. Select it to view more details.
    • Your instructor may have enabled class statistics for certain items. To view class performance statistics, select the icon next to the grade item name.
    • Your instructor may choose to display a final calculated grade at the top of the Grades page. Select the calculator icon to view the breakdown of your final grade.

Review Your Class Progress

  1. Log into  with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Select your course under My Courses or the course selector grid 
  3. Select Progress in the course Navbar.

  4. In the drop-down menu, select Class Progress. You will be taken to the Progress Summary page. If there are Grades available, you will see a Grades heading.
  5. Go to and select the box for the grade item you’d like to review. The accordion will open to reveal course progress content. In the top right corner, of the accordion tab, you will see your grade on the grade item. Underneath, you will see a progress bar. Hover your cursor over the coloured portion of the bar to see metrics about how your grade fits into the achievement of the rest of the class.

The Assignment tool allows students to submit text, digital files, cuPortfolios or record video or audio to their instructor for assessment. The type of assignment submission will be determined by your instructor. Students may experience difficulties with submitting if their filename contain illegal characters or if the file type is not allowed.  For more information about common issues when uploading assignments, see the support page from Algonquin College.

Accessing an Assignment

  1. Log into with your My杏吧原创One credentials.
  2. Select your course under My Courses or the course selector grid
  3. Access the assignment submission link in one of the following ways
    • Find the assignment link in a module.
      1. Select Content in the course Navbar.

Submitting a File

There are many different types of files you can submit in Brightspace. The most popular includes text documents (such as .doc, .docx, .pdf), photos (such as .jpg, .jpeg, .png), videos (such as .mp4, .wav, .mov), and presentations (.ppt). Your instructor may restrict the type of file you can submit for their assignment. Pay particular attention to the assignment instructions for your courses.

NOTE: The process for submitting a file will be different based on how you accessed the assignment. If you accessed the assignment through the module follow step 1 and if you accessed it through the assignment tool follow step 2.

  1. Open the assignment submission link.
  2. Upload your file in one of the following ways:
    • Upload your file to the assignment link in a module. See instructions for accessing a module above.
        1. Select Upload.

        2. Select the file you wish to submit.
        3. Select Open.
        4. Optional: Add a message to your instructor in the comment box.
        5. Select Submit. 
    • Upload your file to the assignment link in the assignment tool. See instructions for accessing the assignment tool above.
        1. Select Add a File.

        2. Select My Computer to submit a file saved on your computer.
        3. Select Upload.
        4. Select the file you wish to submit.
        5. Select Add.NOTE: Make sure the file finishes uploading before selecting Add. If not, you will see an error message.
        6. Optional: Add a message to your instructor in the comment box.
        7. Select Submit. Your file has been submitted to your instructor.NOTE: You will see a Review Assignment Submission page. Select Done.

Your assignment has been submitted. To ensure your assignment’s submission, an email confirmation gets sent to your 杏吧原创 student email. Review your student email inbox to verify that your assignment has been received.

Submitting a Video From Mediaspace

    1. Open the assignment submission link.
    2. Select Insert Stuff in the HTML Editor of the submission text box.
    3. Select Insert Mediaspace. Select Yes, please to confirm.
    4. Select the video you wish to submit.
    5. Select Embed.
    6. Select Insert.TIP: You can insert multiple videos by selecting Insert Stuff and embedding another item from Mediaspace. You can also add text above or below your video or use the HTML editor to add photos, tables, symbols and more.
    7. Select Submit.NOTE: You will see a Review Assignment Submission page. Select Done.

    Your assignment has been submitted. To ensure your assignment’s submission, an email confirmation gets sent to your 杏吧原创 student email. Review your student email inbox to verify that your assignment has been received.

    Submitting a cuPortfolio Link

    There are two different options for submitting a cuPortfolio page or collection. One option is to submit directly through Brightspace, and the second option is to submit a ‘Secret URL’ from cuPortfolio in Brightspace. For instructions on how to submit your portfolio using these two methods, please visit our support page Submitting Assignments in cuPortfolio.

    NOTE: The way that you submit your cuPortfolio work will depend on the option that your instructor set up for your course. Before you submit your assignment, if you do not know already, check with your instructor to see what submission method you are expected to follow.
