ENSC 4003 [0.5 credit]
\nFood Systems and the Environment<\/strong>
\nThis course explores issues of food systems and their sustainability. We will discuss aspects of food systems, including production, distribution, consumption, waste management, and their impact on communities and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISAP 3001 [0.5 credit]
\nApplied Data Analysis<\/strong>
\nData analysis strategies to tackle real-world, wicked problems. Includes a hands-on applied environmental data science project with a variety of partners. Topics include: obtaining and working with data, exploring causal relationships, data ethics, communicating data, and moving from data to information to action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISAP 3003 [0.5 credit]
\nScience Communication<\/strong>
\nHow is science perceived and how has science been communicated? Students will use case studies to assess examples of science communication with varying outcomes. Topics include the principles of effective science communication, the range of tools available, and knowing the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENSC 4002 [0.5 credit]
\nEnvironmental Decisions<\/strong>
\nThe regulatory and scientific aspects of environmental management decisions, including risk analysis and mitigation, managing chronic and acute environmental impacts, and conservation of species and landscapes. Students will use real-world case studies to learn traditional and cutting-edge decision-making tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENSC4700 [0.5 credit]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental Isotopes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isotope applications in environmental and Earth sciences. Emphasis is placed current and novel environmental applications including contaminant tracing, hydrogeological studies, and (bio)geochemical cycling of elements. Mechanisms of stable isotope fractionation and analysis are presented. Student-led projects will explore the broad realm of isotope studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prerequisites-CHEM 1001 and CHEM 1002, and third year standing and higher<\/p>\n\n\n\n
