It is important to have a well put together poster that is easy to read and can be eye catching. <strong>The following are suggestion, please consult with your supervisor to make sure you meet their requirements.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few do&#8217;s and don&#8217;ts for creating a scientific poster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"do\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"use-the-right-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use the right program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PowerPoint is often used a a program to make the posters, however it is important to make sure to change the page sizes before beginning your poster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-size-should-my-poster-be\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What size should my poster be?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend you prepare your poster to be a maximum of 4\u2019 X 4\u2019. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">However you may need to consult with your supervisor about proper poster sizing.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that if you choose to print your poster via a wide-carriage (poster) printing service (e.g. the GLEL, Staples, Codes Pro Media, etc.) you will not be able to format your poster this large.&nbsp; It is best for you to consult with your printer to determine exactly what size of poster you can print on their equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"keep-it-simple\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep it simple<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to show off the highlights of your research; pick a few key figures and make sure they\u2019re clearly explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"keep-it-big\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep it big<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>People shouldn\u2019t need a magnifying glass to read your poster, so make sure to stick with a nice large font size: minimum size 14!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"use-legible-font\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use Legible Font<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For your body text, use a serif font, such as Cambria, as these are easier to read when they are small. You can have your poster printed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staplescopyandprint.ca\/\">Staples<\/a> or the<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/theprintshop\/\"> ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ Print shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes everything looks absolutely fine on your computer screen, but when it\u2019s printed, colors might look brighter and things might move about a bit! It\u2019s better to find these things out before you go to <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/theprintshop\/\">The Print Shop<\/a>. Make sure you\u2019re poster is clear, concise and easy to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"pick-extremely-bright-colors\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pick extremely bright colors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While you want to have some color in there to keep your poster looking pretty, don\u2019t go over the top with it! A hot pink poster might seem like a great idea way to stand out, and it might even look fantastic on your computer screen but when it\u2019s printed out it can be a whole other story!
