Design features such as open laboratories, lounges used by both students and faculty, and faculty offices clustered in a central area, promote an atmosphere of shared learning. This manifests itself in close faculty-student research collaborations, as well as friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department has been aggressive in acquiring modern equipment for teaching and research in biology. Students are able to carry out contemporary procedures thanks to the equipment and facilities offered by the Biology department and 杏吧原创 University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"the-carleton-greenhouses\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 杏吧原创 Greenhouses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/230\/greenhouse_06.jpg\" alt=\"greenhouse_06\" class=\"wp-image-101\" title=\"greenhouse_06\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>杏吧原创 University has one of the best university greenhouse complexes in Canada, with two large display houses, and three research houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The display houses are open for public viewing weekdays: &nbsp;9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research houses are used for experiments by researchers from 杏吧原创 and from other places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/facilities\/greenhouses\/\">More Information about our Greenhouses<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"shared-equipment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shared Equipment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"biology-department\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biology Department<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Science lab equipment is a key element to any scientific research. The biology department is home to various shared equipment types that allows our students, and Faculty to be able to perform their research experiments. Our facility is not-for-profit and we offer very competitive rates.&nbsp;&nbsp;Discounts are available for academic or frequent users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"mass-spectrometry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cmsc\/\">Mass Spectrometry<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cmsc\/\">杏吧原创 Mass Spectrometry Centre (CMSC)<\/a> is a state-of-the-art analytical research facility located at 杏吧原创 University. Using higher-energy X-rays and longer dosage times than conventional X-ray tomography facilities, the XR-\u00b5CT lab allows to&nbsp;non-destructively&nbsp;study the interior of solid matter at&nbsp;ultra-high resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications from academic research within and beyond 杏吧原创 University as well as from government agencies and industry are welcome.
