He completed is MSc degree at Trent University and his PhD at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ University. His research program focus on fish behaviour and physiology as it relates to applied fish habitat and fisheries management, and includes a combination of laboratory experiments, field studies, and mathematical modelling. For example, research projects often involve characterizing fish metabolic performance in the laboratory using swim tunnel respirometers (fish treadmills), tracking the same fish in the wild using telemetry and electronic sensors, and using machine learning to understand how environmental factors influence their capacity to survive and reproduce in rapidly changing ecosystems. Graduate students are an important part of his research program and there are often great project opportunities available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":12414,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"cu_people_first_name":"Jacob","cu_people_last_name":"Brownscombe","cu_people_initials":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"cu_people_type":[27],"cu_people_expertise":[],"class_list":["post-11950","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-adjunctresearch"],"acf":{"cu_people_job_title":"Adjunct Research Professor","cu_people_degree":"","cu_building":false,"cu_people_office_num":"","cu_people_pronoun":"none","cu_people_designation":"","cu_people_email":"JakeBrownscombe@cunet.carleton.ca; ","cu_people_phone":"","cu_people_phone_ext":"","cu_people_linkedin":"","cu_people_bluesky":"","cu_people_twitter":"","cu_people_instagram":"","cu_people_facebook":"","cu_people_website":"","cu_people_orcid":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/11950","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/cu_people"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/11950\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":14648,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/11950\/revisions\/14648"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12414"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=11950"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"cu_people_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people_type?post=11950"},{"taxonomy":"cu_people_expertise","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people_expertise?post=11950"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
