We are very excited to share that registration is now open for the 8th Annual Life Sciences Career Symposium on Monday, July 13th, 2026! This event is open to all graduate trainees at any Canadian University, and registration is only $5 with breakfast and lunch included! It will be a day full of learning about skills and career paths from Life Sciences to the Biotechnology Industries. BioBlitz at Aird Creek MapleCross Nature Reserve

Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026

Time: 8:00 am to 11:00 am

Location: , Concession 4A, Mississippi Mills, ON K0A 1A0 ()

This morning outing will take us along the well-maintained trail loop at Marble Woodlands as we slowly search for forest birds such as warblers, thrushes, vireos, and tanagers. We’ll cover approximately 3.7 km at a relaxed pace. Trip leader Sheila Craig will offer guidance to new birders on spotting and listening for birds, using binoculars effectively, and recording sightings in eBird – an excellent tool for both tracking your observations and discovering new birding locations.

This event is free, with a suggested minimum donation of $10 per person to support MMLT’s conservation work. Registration is limited to 18 participants to ensure everyone has a good view – secure your spot now! If you’ve registered but can no longer attend, please let us know (admin@mmlt.ca) so we can offer your spot to someone else.

2026 Student Travel Awards & Certification Award

Applications for 2026 OCTWS student travel and certification awards are open!

The Ontario Chapter of the Wildlife Society (OCTWS) is offering two student travel awards to support attendance at wildlife research-focused conferences:

·       An award for $500 to support student attendance at (Nov. 1-5, 2026 in Des Moines, Iowa).  The call for abstracts is scheduled to open on April 20 and close on May 27, 2026.

·       A general student travel award for $250 to support attendance to offset the cost of travel to any wildlife-related research conference.

We are also offering an award to cover the full cost of applying for TWS’ (i.e., approximately $95-115 USD) .

Awards are only open to current OCTWS student members, but becoming a member, or renewing an expired membership is easy and affordable! All you need to do is purchase a student membership ($5.00 fee, payable by e-transfer or credit card) and complete the .

Neurometabolism Summer Seminar Series

Are you interested in neuroscience and metabolism? The Student Committee in Neurometabolism is thrilled to announce the return of our annual Neurometabolism Summer Seminar Series!

The Neurometabolism Summer Seminar Series is a weekly, online seminar featuring 10 trainees and 10 eminent researchers in neurometabolism sharing their cutting-edge work. Since 2023, our series has grown into a premier international platform, attracting over 700 attendees per year to date.

Seminars will take place every Thursday at 11:00 AM EST, from May 28th to July 30th, 2026 on Zoom. 

Each weekly session features: 

  • Trainee Talk: A 10-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.
  • Keynote Talk: A 30-minute-deep dive by an invited expert, followed by an open discussion.


To receive the Zoom links and stay informed. 


All trainees are encouraged to submit their work for a short presentation!
Submissions close May 1, at midnight
