The AVRC is committed to supporting the students within SSAC and offers several opportunities for students to hone their information and visual literacy skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Work-study and Summer Jobs\n <\/h2>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n \n\n

Academic year:<\/strong>
Each year, the AVRC offers several part-time audio-visual collections assistant jobs to undergraduate students. The successful candidates generally work on a variety of projects, including collections-based activities such as digitizing analogue media, creating database records for new digital media, appraisal and deaccessioning of audio-visual materials, and reorganizing collection storage areas.
Please note that the AVRC only hires OSAP-funded students who are approved for positions through 杏吧原创\u2019s Work Study program<\/a>. The Work Study Application can be found on 杏吧原创 Central under Student Services, Awards and Financial Assistance. Interviews generally take place during the first two weeks of the fall term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that the application for the Work Study program (available through the Undergraduate Online Application Forms system on 杏吧原创 Central) opens September 1 for the upcoming school year<\/strong><\/strong>. Apply early to ensure that you are approved for a Work Study position. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AVRC is also assigned one to three graduate research assistants each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer:<\/strong>
In the summer, the AVRC usually hires one or two Audio-Visual Collections Assistants through the YCW Summer Work Experience Program<\/a> (subject to funding). The job description can be downloaded here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Practicum Placements\n <\/h2>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n \n\n

The AVRC offers\u00a0practicum placements to undergraduate or graduate students in each of the fall and winter terms.\u00a0Before the beginning of each term, students should indicate their interest to their respective program\u2019s practicum supervisor, who will advise the AVRC\u00a0of potential placements. Candidates will then be interviewed by AVRC\u00a0staff. As much as possible, practicum projects are developed based on the student\u2019s background and interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
