Afterwards,&nbsp;she and her colleague Heather McAlister, a Political Science and African Studies student, stayed in Durban and completed an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/africanstudies\/ias-placement-course\/\" target=\"_blank\">African Studies placement course<\/a>&nbsp;at UKZN\u2019s Health Economics and HIV\/AIDS Research Division (<a onclick=\"javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','heard.ukzn.ac.za']);\" href=\"http:\/\/heard.ukzn.ac.za\/Homepage.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">HEARD<\/a>), which is a UNAIDS collaborating centre.&nbsp; Working with HEARD staff, as their placement&nbsp;project Heather and Khadija carried out research and co-wrote a report titled \u201cAn analysis of the media portrayal of an innovative HIV\/AIDS prevention strategy.\u201d &nbsp;The report will be published later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Alan Steele, special assistant to the Provost, assisted Khadija and Heather in submitting an abstract for the conference.&nbsp;
