\n Advancing Indigenous and Refugee Knowledge and Engagement on Migration in Africa (AIReKEMA)\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

AIReKEMA, as an acronym, stands for Advancing Indigenous Refugee Knowledge and Engagement on Migration in Africa. Migration remains a very contentious issue globally as pressures on economic opportunities and insecurity led to rightward shift in domestic politics both in Africa and in the West. In this context, many politicians blame migrants for almost all the socioeconomic and security challenges facing their countries. AIReKEMA is thus a three-year project that seeks to examine the application of traditionally excluded knowledge in managing migratory flows and border areas in Africa, primarily through the experiences of Indigenous communities but also through the experiences of refugee communities. It builds on the connections developed through the Africa Indigenous Knowledge Research Network (AIKRN<\/a>), the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN<\/a>), and the IDRC Research Chairs Network on Forced Displacement (https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fd-chairs-net\/), all of which have their secretariates at 杏吧原创.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
