Prof. Susanne Klausen is currently conducting research in South Africa. In so doing, she\u00a0has been a witness to\u00a0South Africa\u2019s #FeesMustFall <\/a>campaign.<\/p>\n

In a blog for Active History<\/a>\u00a0Dr. Klausen remarks on the importance of history to the student movement for free education, which\u00a0began October 21.<\/p>\n

Dr. Klausen<\/a> is an associate professor in the Department of History, cross-appointed to the Institute of African Studies, with research interests in modern South Africa, nationalism and sexuality, and the politics of reproduction and fertility control. She is the author of\u00a0Abortion Under Apartheid: Nationalism, Sexuality, and Women\u2019s\u00a0Reproductive Rights in\u00a0<\/em><\/a>South Africa<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>(Oxford University Press, Sept. 2015) and\u00a0Race, Maternity, and the Politics of Birth Control on South Africa<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(Palgrave MacMillan, 2004), and was a collaborator in the republications of Maud Graham\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0A Canadian Girl in South Africa<\/a><\/em> (Alberta University Press, 2015).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
