To mark the end of a two-year project, <\/span>Intergenerational Connections and Futures: Afghanistan<\/span><\/a>, UBC hosted a workshop on May 1st in the Liu Institute for Global Issues and a conference on May 2nd and 3rd in the Liu Institute and C.K. Choi buildings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop, which took place in the Place of Many Trees, Liu Institute, had 22 attendees, 6 UBC presenters, and 6 writing mentors.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference, which had 38 attendees, occurred in the Place of Many Trees, Liu Institute, and Room 120, C.K. Choi Building. The conference was structured for and by the attendees; hence, most of the sessions were facilitated by the attendees. Of the attendees, 24 participated as speakers and 8 as guest presenters on different panels. The conference was attended and led primarily by Afghan scholars, activists, and students, who lent their invaluable expertise and experiences to discussing academic freedom in Afghanistan. The conference prioritized the knowledge of these scholars and students over that of outside experts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
