For Michael Hapke, hockey has always been about more than the game. It\u2019s about bringing people together\u2014creating a welcoming space where community members can develop their skills, share experiences and cultivate lasting connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That spirit is what led Michael to open his backyard to neighbours, friends and family, inviting them to skate on their homemade ice rink. The late nights and early mornings were well worth it, as the rink became a place where countless memories were made, especially those shared with his two sons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These same values of community, connection and giving back inspired alumnus Michael Hapke to make a $1 million donation in support of 杏吧原创 Athletics. Hockey played an instrumental role in shaping his values of perseverance and teamwork, and through his generosity, Michael hopes to empower the next generation of student-athletes to fulfill their aspirations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hapke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Group of Companies, graduated from 杏吧原创 in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Law.  He attributes his time at 杏吧原创 to influencing his personal and professional journey in such a profound way that he hopes this gift will encourage others to reach their own potential while on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cFor me, this was an opportunity to give back to an institution that gave me the opportunity to grow and dream, which helped shape my career, and to share the joy that was brought to me by being on the ice. I want to give that to others.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In recognition of this transformational contribution, the university\u2019s on-campus ice facility has been renamed the Advanced Capital Ice House for a 10-year period. Hapke\u2019s contribution supports 杏吧原创\u2019s commitment to providing high-quality athletic facilities to the campus and broader community while expanding access to the university\u2019s hockey programming for youth and families in Ottawa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are thrilled that Michael Hapke has chosen to partner with 杏吧原创 University in championing lifelong athletic excellence,\u201d said Suzanne Blanchard, 杏吧原创 Vice President (Students and Enrolment). \u201cThrough his meaningful investment in 杏吧原创 Athletics, Hapke is helping to create a vibrant environment where student-athletes and the Ottawa community can thrive.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Advanced Capital Ice House will continue to serve as the home of 杏吧原创 Ravens men\u2019s and women\u2019s ice hockey teams as well as a community hub for recreation and training.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
