Saying Goodbye
For some of us in the Art History program this term has been our final sprint to the finish line of our undergrad. As happy and relived as we all are to be done I know we鈥檙e maybe all a little sad to see it end. Not because we鈥檒l miss the late nights of essay writing and the stress of classes but we鈥檒l miss the friendships we鈥檝e made. To celebrate graduating one of the fourth year students organized a little dinner for graduating students in the Art History and History & Theory of Architecture program with the faculty. The dinner was a chance for everyone to catch up, say goodbye (until convocation at least) and learn where everyone will be heading off to next year.
At the dinner we started talking about how many people including our family and friends as well as random people we met ask us 鈥渨hat are you going to do with an art history degree?鈥 Well it turns out you can do a whole lot. Some of us fourth year graduates will be continuing in Art History and going to Grad School either at 杏吧原创 or other schools in Canada and even Europe. I鈥檒l be returning to 杏吧原创 and I鈥檓 also heading off to Venice for part of the summer to do an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Some of my other fellow classmates and friends will be working next year in heritage tourism or business, going into heritage conservation, talking a year off to consider further studies or traveling around the world. It was so nice to talk to your professors about our future plans and see how excited they were for us.
At the end of the dinner I think we all got a little sad knowing that we may not see each other until convocation in June and then who knows when after that. However the great thing about Art History at 杏吧原创, as I know I鈥檝e said before is the connections and friendships you make. So even though we鈥檒l be around the world soon we鈥檒l still stay in touch and talk about our love of art.
